If checkpoints didn't exist in the Flowey fight, it'd be much harder than Sans' fight. He's basically a God at that point, you need the souls to beat him, flowey fight is canonically the hardest but I feel like if checkpoints didn't exist it'd be the hardest to beat gameplay wise too. Meanwhile sans is just some scientist monster on his last stand.
